“Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd.” (TANGEDCO) an owned subsidiary under “Tamil Nadu Electricity Board” (TNEB) is a separate website amongst the rest for providing tamil nadu electricity bill online payment service. Besides it also provides another service tamil nadu electricity board bill status which ensures the tracking of the payments done by the consumers.
TNEB started its online Bill Payment service from April, 2009 covering their usual domestic consumers in collaboration with Canara Bank which had further added Axis Bank too in their list. Later in the year 2009, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, Electricity Minister Arcot N.Veeraswami launched the online electricity payment option for its Indian bank and ICICI Bank customers too. Basically “TNEB” has started EB Payment Gateway so that the consumers EB bill can be paid online. The consumer can register himself and can pay EB bill online.
For online payments, the consumer can click the link which goes to “TANGEDCO” website and under option Online Bill Payment, if he is already an existing consumer, he can simply sign-in to his account through his login credentials i.e. username and password or otherwise in other case as a new consumer, he can sign-up where he gets his credentials for tamil nadu electricity bill online payment through Credit / Debit cards or through Net Banking, for that new users need to possess a valid Consumer ID and an e-mail account. After signing in to his account the user can go for the tamil nadu electricity board bill payment option. After the payment a print for tamil nadu electricity board bill payment receipt could be generated.
“TNEB” had recently introduced new scheme of 30 days Assessment / Collection throughout Tamil Nadu for its online bill payment, which says:
1) Last payment date of electricity bill is 20 days from the Assessment/Reading date.
2) Billing errors will be acted upon immediately from the Assessment/Reading date.
3) Assessment/Reading will be conducted once in two months.
4) Penalty charges will be imposed for late payments.
For online tamil nadu electricity board bill status too, the consumer can click the link which goes to “TANGEDCO” website and under option Bill status he can further moves to a new link which asks the consumer for his details like the region and service no. after which he can monitors his current billing status of the online payments he had made through. Thus “TNEB” had made its payment facility online for their consumers thus benefitting the consumers and also themselves. |
